On Monday, 13 July 2026, the Department of English (DE) at the University of Science and Technology Chittagong (USTC) organized a flood relief campaign at 10 No. Chambal Union in Banshkhali, Chattogram. As part of the department’s commitment to community service, the initiative aimed to support families severely affected by the recent July-flood by providing essential relief supplies and extending assistance during a time of urgent need. The volunteer team travelled to remote riverside communities which had become isolated by floodwater. Despite navigating muddy roads and waterlogged areas, the volunteers ensured the conveyance of relief goods. Essential items, including dry food, safe drinking water and other basic necessities were distributed to minimise the sufferings of the flood victims.
Students took the lead in coordinating the entire operation of fund-raising, financial management, logistics, designing the programme banner and carrying out the distribution of relief materials in the field. As representatives of Department of English, their commitment and teamwork to serve under challenging conditions showed the strong sense of social responsibility. The campaign served as a meaningful reminder of the importance of empathy, solidarity and civic responsibility.
