Shahnaz Akter started her teaching career as a lecturer in the Department of English Language and Literature (DELL) at USTC on July 01, 2024, to leverage her learning and foster quality education for students. She was an English Language Instructor at Chattogram City School. She conducted a research project on Wh-Movement in Kheyang Language which is an endangered language spoken by the Kheyang Community in Bangladesh.

She attended several seminars and conferences regarding language teaching and multilingualism during her university years. She enrolled in many webinars on English Language Teaching and gained certificates including a ‘webinar on Understanding Learners’ arranged by the English Connects at the British Council in 2023 and “Unlocking Literacy: Developing Skilled Reading in the Primary Classroom” arranged by the English Connects programme at the British Council, 2023.

Shahnaz was a proactive person in her academic journey as well as her extra-curricular & leadership activities. She is a recitation trainer. She always tries to cling to new endeavors. She learned Chinese as her third language and completed her Certificate and Diploma courses in Chinese Language. She wrote an article titled Motivation – the “Neglected Heart” that was published in the Wall Magazine by the Institute of Modern Languages, University of Chittagong in 2023. She also worked as an editor of “Jarul Pattro” (Second Edition), a magazine published by Prothom Alo Bondhushava, Chittagong University in January 2022.
