I joined the Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology at the University of Science and Technology Chittagong (USTC), Chattogram, Bangladesh, as a Senior Lecturer in October 2024, and was promoted to Assistant Professor in February 2026. I have worked as PhD scholar with Prof. A.K.R. Gobinath at South Asian University, New Delhi, India. My PhD research focuses on developing a robust bioprocess for biohydrogen production from biodiesel /soap/ethanol industries waste native crude glycerol (CG) by anaerobic Clostridial fermentation. In addition to these, I have prior expertise in the area of genetic engineering and bioinformatics. My MSc dissertation was supervised by Dr. Rinkoo Devi Gupta at South Asian University, New Delhi, India and my research project was extensively involved cloning, expressing, purifying, and characterizing the metal-dependent bacterial enzyme Prolyl Aminopeptidase (PAP).
My primary role in USTC is teaching, mentoring and leading research in sustainable biotechnology solutions to energy and environmental challenges. I teach Basic Microbiology, Biotechnology of Microbial Systems and Environmental Biotechnology at the undergraduate level and Industrial Biotechnology, Bioethics and Biosafety at the postgraduate level, giving students an exploration approach and linking molecular innovation with global sustainability challenges. Besides teaching, I am deeply engaged in research on renewable energy, downstream processing, circular bioeconomy and microbial metabolic engineering. I also promote connections between academia and industry, student participation in applied research and global collaborations to encourage sustainable bioenergy innovation.
