Profile

Dr.Mohammad Shahangir Biswas is a highly accomplished academic and researcher specializing in biochemistry, biotechnology, and neurophysiology. He is currently the Associate Professor and Chairman of the Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology at the University of Science and Technology Chittagong, Bangladesh, a position he has held since November 2025 He worked as an assistant professor and head of the Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology at Khwaja Yunus Ali University, Bangladesh, from December 2021 to November 2024. He has a strong research background, having served as a postdoctoral research associate at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA, and conducted research in Japan at Tokyo Medical and Dental University.

Dr. Biswas worked in several administrative roles, including Director of the Research Cell at Khwaja Yunus Ali University, and is a member of various quality assurance and academic councils. He is currently working as a Student Advisor at the University of Science and Technology Chittagong. He earned his PhD in Medical Science (Systems Neurophysiology) from Tokyo Medical and Dental University and earned both his B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology from Rajshahi University, graduating with first-class honours.
With over 56 publications in reputed journals, his research covers neurophysiology, vaccine development, autism spectrum disorders, cancer, and public health. He serves as Academic Editor in the journal of Case Reports in Endocrinology and serves as an associate editor for the Journal of Emerging Global Health (JEGH), Journal of Bioscience and Environmental Research, and University of Science and Technology Journal. He serves as an Editorial Board Member of the International Arabian Journal of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (AJMAP), World Journal of Methodology, Canadian Journal of Business, Economics and Health Management (CJBEHM), and Journal of Biosciences and Public Health. He also acts as a reviewer for several prominent journals, such as Nature Scientific Reports, Journal of Nutrition, etc.

Dr Biswas has been awarded multiple research grants, including the IBRO-DANA Brain Awareness Grant (2023 and 2026), a special research grant from the Ministry of Science and Technology, 2025, Bangladesh, and BMRC Research 2024, and he has been recognized for his academic excellence with prestigious awards such as the Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship.

With 11.9 years of experience across multiple countries, Dr. Biswas’s expertise includes advanced research techniques and a focus on brain function, hormonal regulation, and disease mechanisms. He is dedicated to contributing to scientific knowledge and education in his field.
