Md. Mofijur Rahman Shahed is a Lecturer in the Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology at the University of Science and Technology Chittagong (USTC). In addition to his academic responsibilities, he serves as a Co-Principal Investigator at the Bangladesh Bioscience Research Group (BBRG), where he actively contributes to multidisciplinary research projects and collaborative scientific initiatives.
Prior to joining USTC, he worked as a Biochemist at Metro Diagnostic Centre Limited, where he gained extensive experience in clinical laboratory diagnostics and biochemical analysis. He also served as a Molecular Biologist at Prescription Point Laboratory, strengthening his expertise in molecular diagnostics and advanced laboratory techniques. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he played a significant role in public health services by contributing to diagnostic and screening activities at Shah Amanat International Airport.
His research interests include phytochemistry, clinical biochemistry, metabolic disorders, and molecular analysis of infectious diseases, particularly dengue virus. He is actively involved in research projects that integrate laboratory science with real-world health challenges.
He completed his B.Sc. in Biochemistry and Biotechnology and his M.Sc. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of Science and Technology Chittagong (USTC). His postgraduate thesis was based on an animal model study investigating the effects of different dietary oils on Swiss albino mice, where he demonstrated significant biochemical and physiological outcomes. The study contributed valuable insights into nutritional biochemistry and metabolic health.
He has presented his research findings at several national and international conferences and has received multiple awards in recognition of his scientific contributions. His academic vision focuses on promoting research-driven education, mentoring students, and advancing innovative developments in biochemical and molecular sciences.
